Havana, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, alluded today to the continued presence of art, as one of the priorities on the social scene, despite the negative consequences associated with the two years of the pandemic Covid-19.

From the Havana Palace of Conventions, Alonso evoked the phrase of leader Fidel Castro “culture is the first thing to be saved” and mentioned the incidence in the sector of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

In the debates of the National Council of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), the intellectual valued the incorporation of more specialized criticism in the media, the impulse of the spiritual growth of the spectators and the reflection of talent of the cultists in the communities.

Likewise, he acknowledged his dissatisfaction in the treatment of history and the urgency of its approach in a creative and entertaining way, especially in current times, when attempts to distort it proliferate as part of international campaigns against the Revolution.

The official recognized that, from the informative spaces, he urges learning about how we should respond to a provocation or manipulation against the symbols of the nation and praised the vitality and diversity of contemporary authors based on the island.

“The amount of money allocated to the articulation of projects against our culture is unprecedented. They create leaders, prizes and scholarships, harass our institutions, try to disqualify the artists present in the country and promote the boycott of national events,” revealed.

Among the positive balance of these two years of global epidemiological crisis, he pointed out the discovery of the universe of potentialities in the virtual world, the dissemination of multiple artistic manifestations on digital platforms and the formation of theoretical and face-to-face meetings.

In this sense, he mentioned the relevance of proposals such as the International Book Fair, with the work of writers from all provinces and its visualization through online tools and social networks in more than 120 states, and described the participation of artists as essential.
