Cuban hero to meet with compatriots in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) Ramón Labañino, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, will participate in a meeting in this capital on Thursday with Cuban residents in Argentina and professionals who are graduates of Cuba.

As part of his visit to this country, Labañino, who is also the Vice President of the National Association of Economists and Accountants, will, as well, meet with members of the Cuban state and diplomatic mission.

In statements to Prensa Latina, he said he is here representing the aforementioned entity in order to deepen bilateral relations and establish new alliances with universities, study centers, and cooperatives.

The Cuban hero will also launch his book “Hombre del silencio: diario de prisión” (Man of Silence: Prison Diary) in Buenos Aires and some of its provinces.

In that volume, he tells his experiences after he was arrested along with René González, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández, and Fernando González in 1998, for monitoring terrorist networks operating from the United States against Cuba.

We want to reveal the truth about the Cuban Five in US prisons, expose that country’s prison system, and tell all that we have suffered from political imprisonment for 16 years, Labañino said.

The book is dedicated to our Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro (1926-2016), which demonstrates our confidence in the Revolution and our eternal loyalty to our people and to him, he said.
