The Cuban feature film "Habanastation" is reportedly part of the billboard of the 2nd World Film Festival Kolkata, organized by the Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI), from September 22 to 27.

The event, supported by Dibyajyoti Mukherjee, director of the Indo-Hispanic Language Academy, will screen 26 films from different countries, including a Cuban film, FFSI Vice President Premendra Mazumder said.

Mazumder added that there are plans to hold a Cuban film festival in major Indian cities through the Federation’s vast network of societies.

The program of the World Film Festival Kolkata includes the films “Algo Azul” and “La Matamoros” of Panama, and “Quienes somos entonces nosotros” of Costa Rica, and “Habanastation” of Cuba.

Audiences will also enjoy feature films from Portugal, Egypt, France, Nepal, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Armenia, Iran, and Bangladesh.

Founded in 1959 by legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, FFSI is the country’s leading body with over 350 regular and 100 collegiate associations disseminated across India.

It has five regional offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, and Kolkata, the latter being its headquarters.
