Cuba will contest Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games with expectations to be among the first 20 or 25 winners.
In a televised appearance, the general director of high sports performance with the Sports Institute, Jose Antonio Miranda, referred to the island’s potential for the upcoming events to take place in Paris, France—Olympic games, July 26 to August 11 and Paralympics August 28-September 8.
Miranda said that with results collected in recent Pan-Am and Central American games held in Chile and El Salvador respectively, the Cuban athletes can repeat or improve their previous performances in Tokyo 2020.
A pre-selection is already taking training for the games, said Miranda and explained that some 262 athletes are in the group with 92 of them having participated in Olympic games.
