Cuba and India to strengthen cinema ties

Cuban Ambassador to India Alejandro Simancas on Saturday praised the possibilities of cooperation in the film industry between the two countries.

Invited by the Marhwah Studios Complex, considered the first film center in northern India, the Cuban diplomat was guest of honor of the last day of the 16th Global Film Festival in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Before screening the film Tales of Another Day, by renowned director Fernando Perez, the president and founder of the studio and the AAFT Media and Arts University, Sandeep Marwah, presented Simancas with an award for his contribution to strengthening cultural collaboration between Cuba and India.

The diplomat spoke to the audience about similarities between Indian and Cuban cultures.

In this regard, he pointed out, I consider that there are great possibilities of collaboration between film institutions of both countries.

He also mentioned that Cuba is currently hosting the 44th edition of the New Latin American Film Festival.

He expressed his gratitude for the warmly welcome and the interest shown in Cuban culture by the center’s board of directors, but mainly by the students of the AAFT Media and Arts University, who represent the future not only as professionals in the arts in India, but also in journalism, tourism, among other sectors.
