The 30th session of the Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission validated the special nature of bilateral ties, based on cooperation in all areas, Cuban ambassador, Alberto Blanco, said today.

According to a post on social media, the Commission ratified China’s role as a strategic partner of Cuba, as well as the mutual trust, respect and support.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, and the Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Wentao, closed the session last Tuesday with important bilateral agreements, according to a statement released by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The 30th session has contributed to the strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation in prioritized sectors of mutual interest, such as biotechnology, renewable energy sources, food production, tourism, ITs, the sugar industry, transportation and commerce, among others,” the statement adds.

Cabrisas highlighted the relevance of the new session for promoting the consensus reached between the presidents of both countries.

For his part, Wang Wentao highlighted the special nature of bilateral ties, and expressed his willingness to further strengthen cooperation in trade and other prioritized sectors.

Both parties exchanged views about the economic situation in their respective countries, the impact of the United States blockade on Cuba, climate change, the pandemic and the turbulent international situation.

The plenary session was preceded by meetings with senior managers of important companies and government, banking and financial institutions.
