Barranquilla, Colombia, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) The 31st National Meeting of the Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MCSC) met in the city of Barranquilla under a unanimous call to end the blockade enforced by the United States against Cuba.

The Cuban ambassador to Colombia, Javier Caamaño, representatives of the different houses of solidarity, that make up the MCSC, and a broad representation of various progressive political forces in Colombia participated in the inauguration of the event.

Nury Utria, the temporary coordinator of the MCSC, stated that they will continue the fight for the defense of Cuba, against the blockade, and in demand of the country’s removal from the list of States Sponsors of Terrorism, in which it was unfairly included due to its unconditional support for peace in Colombia.

The vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Victor Gaute, thanked the participants in the event for the uninterrupted support to Cuba given by the Movement in the last 31 years, especially in complicated times such as the accidents at the Saratoga hotel and at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas and, more recently, after Hurricane Ian.

“We appreciate the courageous response of our Colombian friends and their rejection of the discrediting and subversive campaigns against Cuba and in condemning the hatred of counterrevolutionary elements who are trying to stir up chaos in Cuba,” he said.
