The newly appointed assistant director, Roderick Cox, will develop the program, which has also the presence of the Entrevoces choir, from Cuba, composed of about 23 musicians and conducted by maestra Digna Guerra, National Music Award.

According to AP news agency, the orchestra will perform the symphonic music inspired in Cuba, and will share stories and videos of its historical trip to the Caribbean Archipelago.

Minnesota Symphony Orchestra traveled to Cuba last May, within the frame of the 19th International Fair “Cubadisco 2015”, and made two memorable performances at Havana’s National Theater.

Here, its musicians also held exchanges with young students from the National Art School (in Spanish, ENA) and the University of Arts (ISA), at a time they shared with local jazz players.

The orchestra became the first big group of US musicians in visiting Cuba, after the approach of both governments, which took place last December.

We are ready to come back as soon as possible, told the press Maestro Osmo Vänska, director of the US orchestra, while he confirmed the joy of its members, for having been part of this historical trip.
