National Ballet of Cuba Celebrates The Magic of Dance

Under the leadership of Viengsay Valdés, the National Ballet of Cuba presents a prestigious showcase at Havana's National Theater, featuring a selection of the world's most renowned classical masterpieces performed by both rising stars and established dancers.

The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), under the artistic direction of Viengsay Valdés, will present The Magic of Dance today at the National Theater in the capital. The performance will showcase both young talents and seasoned performers in legendary classics of the international repertoire.

Under the choreography of the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, the renowned company will take the stage at the Avellaneda Hall with excerpts from Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake.

The performance will conclude with the finale of Gottschalk Symphony, which is described by the BNC announcement as a synthesis of popular dance and classical academic technique.

The engagement, which is also scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday, will feature prominent figures of Cuban dance, including first dancers Viengsay Valdés, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernández, Ányelo Montero, and Yankiel Vázquez.

Joining them are principal character dancer Ernesto Díaz, principal dancer Gabriela Druyet, soloists Laura Kamila and Alianed Moreno, as well as rising performers Carolina Estrada, Bertho Rivero, Nadila Estrada, Alejandro Alderete, Carolina Fonseca, and Roque Salvador.
