On the same social network, Cuba's top diplomat also recalled that during his intervention at the forum he reiterated his denunciation of recent years regarding the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, reinforced to unprecedented levels.

Rodríguez at the BRICS Summit denounced the collective punishment against the Cuban people. Its indiscriminate and humanitarian effects are incalculable, and cause great suffering to Cuban families. It is the instrument chosen to achieve "regime change," he added.

The foreign minister described the measures against the Cuban people as "a silent genocide that claims lives."

The foreign minister argued in his statement that his country's infant mortality rate has doubled from four per thousand live births to 9.9, and the life expectancy of children with cancer has fallen from 85 percent to 65 percent.

"Causing human damage, suffering, and anguish is the objective of this cruel policy deliberately designed for that purpose," stated the highest representative of Cuban diplomacy.

On the other hand, in his Sunday post, Rodríguez highlighted that in the open session of the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 he noted that the Group has the potential to be a factor of peace and security for all, development, justice, and progress of the Global South, indispensable for building a new multilateral, equitable, and democratic international order.
