Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez expressed gratitude today for the acts and solidarity events with Cuba held in several European cities over the past weekend.

Rodríguez Parrilla highlighted on his X account the demonstrations against the U.S. blockade in Bilbao; the "No War on Cuba" vigil in Berlin; and the meetings and expressions of solidarity at the Fête de l’Humanité in France and at ManiFiesta in Ostend, Belgium.

In his view, these actions show that Cuba is not alone in its struggle against the collective punishment and silent genocide executed by the U.S. government against the people of the Caribbean nation.

"They constitute new evidence of the broad international rejection of the U.S. policy of economic suffocation, imposed through the energy blockade, the intensification of the embargo, and secondary sanctions," added the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the 91st edition of the Fête de l’Humanité, National Secretary and presidential candidate of the French Communist Party (PCF), Fabien Roussel, highlighted the resistance and fighting spirit of the Cuban people, denouncing the White House's insistence on forcing the Caribbean nation's population into submission through a policy of economic suffocation that includes an energy blockade in place since last January.

The largest left-wing forum in Europe—attended by approximately 570,000 people, the vast majority being young adults—became a platform for expressions of solidarity and concrete ideas on how to better assist the Caribbean country.

Similarly, numerous Cuba solidarity organizations called for a week of mobilizations, debates, cultural activities, and public actions in Berlin from September 12 to 19 under the slogan "Cuba needs solidarity. Our solidarity. Now!" to denounce the intensification of Washington's economic, financial, and commercial blockade.

Meanwhile, more than two thousand people marched through the streets of Bilbao, the capital of the Basque Country. The initiative was promoted by Euskal Herria-Kuba Ekimena, the internationalist platform Hegoak—which brings together about twenty Basque trade unions, parties, and NGOs—the Euskadi-Cuba association, and various social and political actors.

On Sunday, September 13, the ManiFiesta festival in Belgium hosted the meeting "Hands Off Cuba: solidaires contre le blocus" (Hands Off Cuba: Solidarity Against the Blockade), dedicated to solidarity with the Cuban people and the condemnation of the U.S. siege.
