In Chile, a series of solidarity initiatives have been developed with the objective of raising funds and essential supplies for Cuba. Through community events in different regions of the country, Chileans seek to mitigate the effects of the blockade imposed by the United States against the island and support sectors such as Cuban education and public health.

In the south-central area of the Chilean capital, the La Victoria neighborhood hosted the gastronomic event “A Fish for Cuba” last weekend. This activity, coordinated by the José Martí Association, is part of a technical campaign that plans the shipment of a container with educational materials and supplies by the end of May of the current year, initially destined for 50 of the 100 schools included in the educational aid project.

The mobilization extended to the town of El Monte, in the province of Talagante, where more than 150 people gathered for a luncheon organized by the Communist Party. The resources obtained in this instance will focus on the acquisition of food, medicine, basic supplies, and solar panels.

Also in El Monte, representatives from the labor, teaching, and peasant sectors, convened by the Maipo Development Corporation, joined forces to promote a specific program to support rural schools in the largest of the Antilles.

Meanwhile, in San Ramón, specifically in the La Bandera neighborhood, support was manifested through a street festival that denounced U.S. policies against the Caribbean nation.

These actions were highlighted by figures such as Italian filmmaker Walter Uliano Pistelli, who underscored the civic commitment to reciprocate Cuba's historical cooperation, also highlighting a muralist initiative for the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro.

“It is wonderful to see how so many events are being organized; there is a great deal of solidarity with Cuba, people are trying to give back a little of the much that Cuba has given,” Uliano Pistelli told Prensa Latina.

Finally, the solidarity extended to the city of Concepción with a political-cultural day held at Ecuador Park. In that city, the José Martí Corporation continues to collect donations for the Cuban people.

Since January 29 of the current year, the date on which United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order to impose tariffs on goods from countries that supply oil to Cuba, the solidarity of the peoples of the world has been manifested through concrete actions of support to counteract the energy and financial limitations imposed on the island.

International cooperation seeks to guarantee the functioning of essential services, such as health and electricity generation, through the donation of resources and the demand for a cessation of measures that hinder the supply of hydrocarbons to Cuban territory.
