Cuba to host Central American wrestling tournament

Cuba will host the qualifying Central American wrestling tournament next year, confirmed today Luis de la Portilla, head of the Cuban Wrestling Federation.

De la Portilla announced that Cuba already talked to the UWW (United World Wrestling) and the Pan American Confederation and both approved the request.

We aim at organizing a tournament in March 2018. We will have the traditional competitions such as the Granma-Cerro Pelado one month earlier. And we are going to celebrate it, no doubt.

In order to participate in the sub-regional event to be held in Barranquilla 2018, wrestlers from 35 countries will attend the qualifying tournament.

It is going to be the most important wrestling competition held in Cuba after the Pan American Games in 1991.
