Plenty of international voices joined on Thursday in rejecting the US economic, commercial and financial blockade supporting Cuba during a virtual forum.

In the exchange, convened by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), participants supported the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the members of the Henry Reeve contingent, who have been fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic in over thirty countries and territories.

Using the slogan, 'Solidarity Vs. Blockade,' the online event allowed representatives of movements in support of Cuba, from different regions of the world, to send their message on video condemning the almost six decades of 'inhuman and illegitimate' sanctions.

In addition to the forum's participants, Internet users expressed their solidarity with the country in over 1,000 comments on the different websites where the event was broadcasted.

Cuba suffers from the US longest sanctions system in history for defending the underdog and workers, rather than the capitalists, said Abdolhamid Shahrabi, director of research at Casa de America Latina, an Iranian solidarity organization.

Meanwhile, Graciela Ramirez, coordinator of the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity to the Peoples, added that the US economic blockade exists because Cuba does not submit to the US designs, and that the island has the right to its sovereignty, independence, and live and develop.

The US blockade affects not only the Cuban people, but also the American people, insisted Gail Walker, executive director of IFCO/Pastors for Peace and co-chair of the National Network of Solidarity with Cuba in the United States.
