Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ratified his solidarity with the Cuban people, who—he noted—keep their firm stance in defense of their sovereignty and demanding the definitive end of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.

Cubans have resisted 62 years under the US act of war, an illegal and highly inhumane policy ever imposed on a nation, said Maduro.

According to data released by the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the damage inflicted by the US blockade up to 2023 stands for over 405 million dollars monthly, that is one million dollars every two hours.

And the damage inflicted on Cuba by the US policy over the past 60 years, based on the value of gold, has translated into one trillion 337 billion dollars, an incalculable figure for any economy around the world.

On February 3rd, 1962, the signing by JFK of Presidential Proclamation 3447 established a total “embargo” on all trade with Cuba under section 620 (a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, which stamped an official nature to US unilateral and aggressive economic actions against the island nation.
