American cellist Lori Goldston, who participated in Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York, has surprised Cuban audiences by announcing her performances at the Jazz Plaza International Festival, scheduled for January 21 to 28.

Digital media quickly spread the news, after the artist published a photo of her on her Instagram profile with several concert dates, including on Sunday, January 28, in Havana.

According to the information, Goldston will perform classic songs of traditional Cuban music and the admired rock group, founded by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic.

The concerts will take place at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Havana and Fábrica de Arte Cubano. She is expected to meet with Cuban rock musicians, visit the Máxim Rock Cultural Center and the La Marca tattoo studio, among other places of interest, according to the source.

Lori Goldston won her ticket to fame as a cellist on Nirvana’s tour of the United States in 1993 and 1994. Thanks to her virtuosity, she navigates a wide variety of styles including classical music, world music, rock and free improvisation.

She was a member of Earth, Black Cat Orchestra and Spectratone International, in addition to performing as a solo artist.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she participated in dozens of studio albums, and toured and recorded with the Black Cat Orchestra, and performed at major national events

Lori Goldston has received commissions from several arts organizations, including performing arts companies such as On the Boards, the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art’s Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival, along with art institutions such as the Frye Art Museum, the Seattle Asian Art Museum, the New Foundation and the Henry Art Gallery.
