First International “Leales al Patrimonio” Event Announced

Organized by the San Cristóbal Travel Agency (AVSC), the First International Historic and Heritage Tourism Event Leales al Patrimonio will take place in Cuba from November 11 to 16. The gathering is aimed at tour operators, travel agencies, and all individuals committed to preserving cultural heritage.

In its inaugural edition, the program will focus on three heritage cities: Havana, Matanzas, and Trinidad. It will pay tribute to the late historian Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler and celebrate both the 506th anniversary of the founding of the former Villa San Cristóbal de La Habana and the 30th anniversary of the agency.

Leales al Patrimonio will also promote Cuba as a Living Heritage of the World, while highlighting the outstanding value of cities that have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The event will provide a forum for discussions on the need to preserve history and cultural identity, as well as the conservation of monuments for future generations.

Sessions in Havana will address the theme of colonial architecture. In Matanzas, there will be a conference on the Route of the Enslaved, followed by a specialized tour led by Guamacaro’s Tour. Trinidad will focus on the conservation of tangible and intangible heritage.

As a prelude to Havana’s anniversary celebrations, the official opening will take place on November 12 at the Aula Magna of the San Gerónimo University College. The welcome remarks will be delivered by architect Perla Rosales Aguirreurreta, Deputy Director General of the Office of the Historian.

Keynote lectures, thematic presentations, and special activities will be part of the agenda, including a nighttime tour of the National Capitol led by engineer Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez, President of AVSC.
