Cuba will host the International Agroforestry Convention “Cuba 2024”, to be held on July 1 to 5 with the participation of some 400 researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, producers and communicators from Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Italy and the host country.

ScD Pedro Pablo Henry Torriente, general director of the Agroforestry Research Institute (INAF) and president of the Organizing Committee, said that the conference, which will take place again after seven years of interruption caused by the pandemic, will include the 8th Forestry Congress of Cuba, the 4th International Congress of Coffee and Cocoa, the 8th International Meeting of Young Researchers, and the 7th Cuban Congress of Beekeeping.

“Cuba 2024” is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of INAF, established in 1969 after the United Nations Special Fund approved the Cuba-3 Forestry Research and Training Center project, which became the Forestry Research Institute in 1985 and took its present name in 2011.

Featured in the program are topics related to forests and their relationship with society, biodiversity and ecosystem services, climate change and production, as well as forest protection, integrated pest and disease management, and sustainable agricultural production technologies.

Likewise, there will be debates about coffee and cocoa production, quality, processing and by-products; plantation, soil and nutrient management; beekeeping development; biodiversity, environment and pollination; healthy food and apitherapy; and international cooperation, among others.
