Manager Gabriel Sansò selected 23 players, all with experience at the top national level.

After try-outs in Salta, in the north of the country, manager Gabriel Sansò has selected 23 players to represent Argentina in the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2020 Americas Qualifier.

The players are: Augustin Borrino, Felipe Britos, Zimba Cadiz, Mannuk Cadiz, Thomas Cuenca, Pedro Figuera, Kevin Riello, Franco Villasanti, David Walitsky, Tomas Bressan, Juan Elorza, Benjamin Pardo, Elian Sanchez, Martin Cruz, Tomas Almaraz, Nicolas Alvarado, Franco Arce, Augustin Avila, Facundo Flores, Matias Perez, Bautista Ramon, Lucas Ramon, Matias Silvera.

The rest of the coaching staff includes Eduardo Capdevilla, Pablo Leone, Federico Bisbal and Marcelo Alfonsin.

Gabriel Sansò believes his team is well prepared: "The programme is the same as the main National Team, so these players had a chance to go through four very good days of work. These kids represent the future of baseball in Argentina. They are all competing at the top national level. Some, like pitcher Kevin Riello (pictured above) are already part of the main National Team."

The 12-team continental tournament will qualify three National Teams for the U-23 World Cup. It is scheduled from 21 February to 1 March and is being co-hosted in Nicaragua and Honduras.

World No, 24 Argentina will compete in group B in Tegucigalpa, Honduras against the hosts, and world No. 54, Honduras, No. 8 Cuba, No. 13 Panama, No. 14 Colombia and No. 59 Guatemala.

World No. 15 Nicaragua, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Dominican Republic, No. 22 Brazil, No. 43 Peru and No. 65 El Salvador will play in group A in Managua, Nicaragua.
