The six players, three men and an equal number of women, who will represent Cuba in the 22nd edition of the Pan American Badminton Championship traveled yesterday to Guatemala, home of that competition from next April 26-29.

The list is headed by Osleni Guerrero and Leodanis Martinez, silver and bronze medalists, in that order, of that contest last year.

The third man of the Cuban roster is Ernesto Reyes; while Tahimara Oropeza, 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games champion in the mixed doubles event, leads the women´s group, which also includes Adriana Artiz and Yeli Mari Ortiz.

In the previous edition of this competition, held in Havana, on April 2017, Cuba reached two medals through Guerrero, 2011 Pan-American Games runner-up, and Martinez.

Guerrero lost in the final of the men's individual event to Brazilian Igor Coelho, who had previously defeated in one of the semifinals Martinez, who achieved a meritorious bronze medal, his best result at that level.
