In an operation launched on Tuesday, Su-33 naval fighters, based on the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, killed members of Jabhat Al-Nusra in the Syrian province of Idlib, according to the Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson, Major-General Igor Konashenkov.
Several intelligence sources have confirmed the death of at least 30 terrorists, including the leaders Mujammad Jelala, Abu Jabar Jarmud and Abul Baja Al-Asfari, said the Russian officer.
Al-Asfari has been responsible for planning and conducting a new offensive in the city of Aleppo, according to Konashenkov.
