Matanzas and Villa Clara Set the Pace in Baseball Postseason

Cocodrilos and Leopardos Maintain Perfect Records in Quarterfinals
The Cocodrilos of Matanzas and the Leopardos of Villa Clara won again today, remaining as the only teams with perfect records in the quarterfinal playoffs of Cuban baseball.

Matanzas Unleashes Offensive Onslaught
At the Victoria de Girón stadium, the Matanzas team made the most of their home-field advantage with a relentless offensive against the Gallos of Sancti Spíritus, overwhelming them from the first innings to secure a final score of 14-6.

A three-run home run by Yurisbel Gracial in the first inning set the tone for an afternoon of relentless pressure on the Sancti Spíritus pitching, led by left-hander Alex Guerra, who could not withstand the assault.

The onslaught continued in the second inning with a solo home run by José Amaury Noroña, who turned every at-bat into a genuine threat, adding two RBIs.

Five more runs in the third inning—capped by a string of hits and a bases-clearing double from Gracial—sealed the game in favor of a team that played with the calm of those who know they are superior.

Starter Yamichel Pérez earned the win with a five-inning outing, despite a late rally by the Gallos, who scored four runs off him and two more off his reliever Noelvys Entenza, though the lead proved insurmountable.

Villa Clara Extends Improbable Winning Streak
Meanwhile, at the Julio Antonio Mella stadium, Villa Clara wrote another improbable chapter by defeating the Leñadores of Las Tunas 5-4, extending their winning streak to eleven games since the end of the regular season.

The Oranges took an early lead with an RBI double by Osmán Carucho, but the defending champions responded, taking the lead thanks to a home run by Yassel Izaguirre in the seventh inning.

Just as the game seemed decided, the Azucareros bared their fangs in the ninth inning against Alberto Pablo Civil, manufacturing four runs—crowned by a bases-clearing triple from Leonardo Montero that silenced the stands.

Omar David Pérez earned the win in relief, and Raidel Alfonso closed the door with authority to preserve a victory that brings the Villa Clara team closer to the semifinals.

Artemisa Ties Series with Holguín
In yesterday's decisive game, the Cazadores of Artemisa defeated the Cachorros of Holguín 4-1 at the Calixto García stadium, tying their series thanks to an early three-run rally sparked by a triple from Dayán García.

For tomorrow, the only action will be concentrated at the Latinoamericano stadium, where the Huracanes of Mayabeque and the Industriales of Havana will seek to break the tie in their series, which is also currently level.
