
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez held a series of meetings with his counterparts today during his participation in the High-Level Segment of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
On Monday, Rodríguez met with the Foreign Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Kacou Houadja, in a conversation that highlighted the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two nations. The Cuban minister stated on his X social media account that “I conveyed Cuba's willingness to expand economic-commercial relations and cooperation.”
He also held an exchange with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, underscoring the traditional relationship between their peoples and the interest in strengthening bilateral ties.
Separately, he described his meeting with Hungary's Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, as productive. “I held a productive meeting with my friend @FM_Szijjarto, Foreign Minister of Hungary, which reflects the positive state of bilateral relations,” he affirmed on the same microblogging platform. The head of Cuban diplomacy also thanked Hungary for its “support in the realization of projects in several sectors,” adding that “I conveyed Cuba's interest in continuing to advance economic-commercial ties.”
Similarly, the Foreign Minister met with his Malian counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop. On X, he indicated, “We highlighted the historic relations of friendship and solidarity between the two countries and Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening bilateral links.”
Bruno Rodríguez arrived in New York on Saturday leading the Cuban delegation to the main week of events at the United Nations (UN).
Other activities already completed as part of his program include a Meeting with Cuban Residents in the United States, graduates of the Havana-based Latin American School of Medicine, and a tribute to Malcolm X on his centennial, held at the iconic Riverside Church in New York.
The Cuban delegation to the High-Level Segment also includes Deputy Foreign Ministers Carlos Fernández de Cossío and Anayansi Rodríguez; Cuba's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ernesto Soberón; and the Cuban Ambassador to the United States, Lianys Torres, among other directors and officials from the Foreign Ministry and the Permanent Mission to the UN.
