British actor Owen Cooper became the youngest actor ever to receive an Emmy on Sunday, winning the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the psychological drama Adolescence.
At just 15 years old, the actor — who plays Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old accused of murdering a classmate — broke the record previously held by Scott Jacoby, who was 16 when he won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for The Certain Summer in 1973.
The Netflix miniseries is emerging as one of the most celebrated productions of the 77th edition of the awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Hannah Einbinder Delivers Political Message in Her Acceptance Speech
The star of Hacks, Hannah Einbinder, concluded her acceptance speech after winning the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series with a direct insult against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a message of support for the Palestinian people.
“Let’s go Birds (in honor of Philadelphia’s football team), fuck ICE, and free Palestine!” the actress shouted during her speech at the 77th Emmy Awards, held Sunday in Los Angeles.
The words “fuck ICE” were not broadcast during the ceremony, as both cable and television feeds operate on a brief delay in order to censor profanity or content deemed unsuitable for all audiences.
