U.S. Investigates Foreign Nationals for Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Death

Trump: “We don’t like it. It’s not right.”

President Donald Trump announced today that the State Department is investigating foreign nationals who celebrated the assassination of conservative activist and ally Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot while attending an event in Utah on September 10.

“We are considering names,” Trump said, stressing “we don’t like it. It’s not right,” while noting that he has not yet ordered the revocation of any visas.

Airlines Suspend Employees Over Social Media Posts

Meanwhile, Delta, American, and United Airlines have suspended employees over social media posts related to Kirk’s killing.

“We were made aware of Delta employees whose social media content regarding the recent assassination of activist Charlie Kirk went far beyond healthy and respectful debate,” Delta CEO Ed Bastian wrote in an internal statement shared with local media.

According to Bastian, such posts are “in clear contrast with our values and our social media policy, and these employees have been suspended while an investigation is conducted.”

American Airlines also stated that some employees who posted to “promote that kind of violence on social media were immediately removed from service.” The measures follow increasing corporate responses under pressure from the Trump administration to dismiss workers who were “caught celebrating the assassination.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy added on X that such behavior “is repugnant and (those employees) should be fired.”

United Airlines issued a memo to pilots reminding them of the company’s social media policy and confirmed Sunday that it had suspended employees in recent days.

“We have been clear with our customers and employees that there is zero tolerance for politically motivated violence or any attempt to justify it,” the airline declared.

National Shock Over Kirk’s Assassination

According to an article published by Democracy Now, Kirk’s assassination shocked the nation and the world “not only because of its brutal violence, with a single deadly sniper shot, but as a hallmark of the deepening political divisions roiling the United States.”

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is set to appear in court on Tuesday to face formal charges in the fatal shooting, which occurred during an event at Utah Valley University attended by more than 3,000 people.

Kirk’s Political Legacy

Charlie Kirk co-founded the youth organization Turning Point USA in 2012. He has been credited with playing a key role in the Republican victories in the 2024 elections.
