Cuba Secures Second Victory in U-12 Baseball World Cup

Cuba’s national team earned a dominant 19–2 mercy-rule win over Australia today in the VIII U-12 Baseball World Cup, held at ASPAC B Stadium in Tainan, Chinese Taipei.

Under the guidance of manager Raúl Rodríguez, the Cuban squad wrapped up the group stage with a record of two wins and three losses. This result places them in the consolation round, where they will compete for positions seven through twelve.

Entering the next phase with a 2–0 record, carrying over wins from previous games against fellow consolation-round teams, Cuba is scheduled to face Panama (2–0) on Thursday at 6:30 a.m. They will then play the Czech Republic (1–1) on Friday, followed by South Africa (0–2), in matches that will determine final standings.

In their win over Australia, Cuba recorded 12 hits, including a double and a home run by Yuceider Torres, who also drove in five runs.

Other offensive standouts included Maykol Mario Lluch, who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Marcos Jesús Vera, who contributed a 2-for-2 performance with two runs batted in.

On the mound, Sean Manuel García earned the win after pitching three flawless innings, allowing no hits and striking out six batters.
