Colima to Host 2025 NORCECA Women’s Indoor Volleyball Pan American Cup from August 1 to 11

Colima Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva and the Director of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Conade), Rommel Pacheco Marrufo, announced in a press conference that the 2025 edition of the NORCECA Women’s Indoor Volleyball Pan American Cup will return to Colima. The 22nd edition of the tournament will be held from August 1 to 11 at the “José María Morelos y Pavón” Sports Complex in the state capital.

The governor expressed great pride and satisfaction that Colima will once again serve as host for the Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup, highlighting the state's strong volleyball tradition. She noted that Colima has produced athletes for the national team and pointed to longstanding events such as the Alcuzahue National Volleyball Tournament, now approaching its 40th anniversary, along with several other teams that continue to promote the sport locally.

“We have the precedent of having hosted this cup in Colima before. It was a great event, and now we have the chance to repeat the experience. I am very pleased that, together with the Colima Sports Institute (Incode), Conade, and the Mexican Volleyball Federation, we were able to reach the necessary agreements to make this possible again in the state,” said Vizcaíno.

She added that she shares the belief, alongside Rommel Pacheco and President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, that both recreational and high-performance sports contribute meaningfully to the restoration of peace from multiple perspectives.

“Having events like this in our state not only motivates our athletes and high-performance competitors, but also inspires many more people to get involved and start participating in sports. That means inspiring future generations,” she added.

The governor also emphasized the positive economic impact of hosting this international tournament, particularly in terms of tourism. She noted that with each major sports event, hotel occupancy rates in the state rise between 80 and 100 percent.

Conade Director Rommel Pacheco confirmed the participation of 11 countries in the tournament: the United States, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Mexico. “It is an honor for Conade to announce the start of this premier-level event, which not only places Mexico at the center of continental volleyball, but also enhances our international presence and strengthens our organizational and athletic capacities,” he said.

Pacheco noted that the tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2026 NORCECA Women's Continental Championship, the 2026 Central American Games, and the 2027 Pan American Games. It will also award points toward the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) world rankings.

He further highlighted the comprehensive development opportunity that this event represents for Mexico, through job creation, tourism promotion, and the improvement of host state infrastructure. “Every point played in this tournament will also be a point we add to the peace, well-being, and progress of our nation. Thanks to NORCECA, the Mexican Volleyball Federation, and especially the State of Colima for making it possible for Mexico to be the home of international volleyball,” Pacheco concluded.
