The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) on Wednesday expressed its deepest condolences to relatives of Raul Taladrid, one of ICAIC´s founders, who passed away at the age of 87.

According to a press release, Taladrid, alongside his wife Araceli Herrero, represented essential pieces for the start-up and operation of the first cultural institution founded after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.

From his position as president, he played a decisive role in the production of the new Cuban cinema, an area in which he showed an innate capacity for work, as well as a great deal of skill, organization, professionalism and personal initiative.
