ICAIC founder Raul Taladrid dies at 87

The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) on Wednesday expressed its deepest condolences to relatives of Raul Taladrid, one of ICAIC“s founders, who passed away at the age of 87.

According to a press release, Taladrid, alongside his wife Araceli Herrero, represented essential pieces for the start-up and operation of the first cultural institution founded after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.

From his position as president, he played a decisive role in the production of the new Cuban cinema, an area in which he showed an innate capacity for work, as well as a great deal of skill, organization, professionalism and personal initiative.
