Cuba postpones approval of the Social Communication Law

Havana, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban lawmakers agreed here on Monday to postpone for the next ordinary session the debate on the Social Communication bill.

In the 10th ordinary session of the National Assembly of People’s Power (parliament), the representatives agreed to postpone the discussion and approval of the law in order to gather more opinions from specialists and the population.

The working program had foreseen the discussion of this law and five others, in order to comply with the legislative schedule that gives legal continuity to the guarantees and rights recognized in the 2019 Constitution.

National Assembly President Esteban Lazo pointed out that the decision was adopted on Sunday by the Council of State in response to the request of several deputies who asked for more time for the discussion of the precepts of the law, the first of its kind in the country.

The economy, the budget, and the Government’s measures to face the situation of the country, monopolize the work agenda of Cuban parliamentarians in this session of the legislative body.
