The film will continue the story told in “Zoolander,” in which Stiller starred in 2001, a tale that focuses on the figure of a male supermodel with very little in the way of brains.

Cruz recently finished filming “Ma ma” in Spain, directed by Julio Medem, and she played a small role in the comedy “Grimsby,” by Sacha Baron Cohen.

The screenplay for “Zoolander 2” will be written by Justin Theroux and will also feature Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson, who played significant supporting roles in the original film.
