The peace process in Colombia is meant to put an end to the over 50 years of fighting in the country between government forces, right wing paramilitaries and guerrilla groups which has killed over 200,000 people and displaced millions.  

The government of Colombia and the ELN have made an attempt at truce before, holding peace talks in Venezuela and Cuba between 2002 and 2007.
