Havana, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas won a vote in the Prensa Latina Sports Poll, thanks to Radio Llanura de Colón, based in the western Cuban province of Matanzas.

It was the Venezuelan athlete’s seventh vote, thus ratifying her as a clear favorite to win the traditional survey (no other athlete has received more than one ballot so far).

Radio Llanura selected Rojas in the Best Female Athlete category, based on her outstanding season, as she won the titles at the World Outdoors Track and Field Championships in Eugene, the United States, and at the World Indoors Championships in Belgrade.

In the latter, Yulimar Rojas set a world record of 15.74 meters, breaking her previous record of 15.67 meters that she had also held since the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games (2021).

In addition to Rojas, Radio Llanura voted for Cuban judoka Andy Granda as Best Male Athlete and the Cuban canoeing duet of Yarisleidis Cirilo and Katherin Nuevo, as Best Team of the Year.
