The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday assured that the outbreak of monkeypox can still be controlled because the general transmission risk is low.

WHO experts consider that the goal now is to contain and stop it, and this is possible because details and propagation ways of this disease are known.

In spite of the level of socialization in the world after the lifting in many nations of Covid-19 restrictions, it is unlikely that the virus has mutated.

The WHO stressed that this virus can be transmitted by close skin-to-skin contact, breath droplets and contaminated bed linen.

The incubation stage of monkeypox is from 6 to 13 days, although it can be from 5 to 21 days, and the most important thing is that it affects any human being, and not only men who have sex with a person of the same gender.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis, endemic of remote areas in Central and West Africa, which produces symptoms like the ones observed in human smallpox in the past, but with less severe manifestations, the WHO specified.

The infection occurs by direct contacts with blood, body liquids or skin lesions or the mucosa of infected animals, and there are no treatments or vaccines against this condition.
