Venezuelan President rejects US exclusionary policy

Havana, May 27 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro rejected the exclusionary and divisive policy of the United States in its call for the Summit of the Americas, scheduled for June 6-10 in Los Angeles.

Speaking at the 21st Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, held at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, Cuba, Maduro condemned Washington's attempts to exclude the peoples and legitimate authorities of Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela from the upcoming regional meeting.

In this regard, Maduro asserted that this meeting of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty will approve a strong declaration against an empire that seeks to divide the region through intrigues and threats.

The dignitary stressed that ALBA-TCP holds a clear doctrine on the relations among the area's countries, based on the Bolivarian and Latin Americanist thinking shared among nations that debate among equals and without excluding spirit.

"We have debated on the erratic convocation of the so-called Summit of the Americas, (where) the intention is to exclude from that meeting the peoples of Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela; we have confirmed the enormous power of the Latin American and Caribbean conscience, the general protest of governments and peoples against the exclusion of these countries", said Maduro.

In this regard, the Venezuelan President thanked the "firm and courageous voices" of the states of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), and the presidents of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of Honduras, Xiomara Castro; of Bolivia, Luis Arce; and of Argentina, Alberto Fernández.
