Tokyo, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Robert Suarez became the first Latino with 40 saves in a professional baseball season in Japan, by ensuring Hashin's 2-1 victory over Yomiuri.
 
From the mound at the Tokyo Dome stadium, the right-handed pitcher took out four batters from the Giants in one and a third inning of work, enough to become the seventeenth to achieve the feat in the history of the ball circuit.

Additionally, Suarez lowered his ERA to 1.26 per nine-inning game as contribution to Hanshin Tigers' 72 victories.

While Dominican Mel Rojas junior singled in four visits to the plate leaving his batting average at .189 and his fellow countryman Jefry Marte went blank in three at-bats to reduce his to .275.

With the Yomiuri Giants, his compatriot Christopher Mercedes suffered the defeat by allowing two runs and seven hits in four innings, with which his ERA dropped to 3.62.

Meanwhile, at Valentin Dome Stadium in Nagoya, Cuban pitcher Raidel Martínez earned his twenty-second save of the season after striking out the inning to ensure the Chunichi Dragons 3-2 victory over Yakult Swallows.

After these results, in the Central League Yakul leads with 68 wins, 46 loses and 16 draws, followed by Hanshin (72-54-7) and Yomiuri (59-58-18).

In the Pacific area, the leaders are the Orix Buffaloes (66-51-17), followed by the Lotte Sailors (61-51-19) and Rakuten (61-55-15), the latter with five games ahead of defending champion SoftBank Hawks(55-59-20).
