Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) officially denounced in a communiqué this Monday that it has been the victim of a sophisticated cyberattack specifically aimed at paralyzing its operations.

The state-owned company stated that this criminal action is an integral part of the sustained and aggressive strategy of the United States Government, whose ultimate goal is the illegitimate appropriation of Venezuela's vast oil reserves through the use of force and modern piracy practices in Caribbean waters.

The national oil company detailed that, thanks to the experience, preparedness, and technical capacity of its specialized personnel, the attack was contained and failed to affect critical operational areas.

The impact, mitigated swiftly, was limited to a portion of the administrative system. PDVSA emphasized strongly that the production, refining, and distribution of fuels continue with absolute normality across the entire national territory, backed by robust security protocols that guarantee both the full supply of the internal market and the unwavering fulfillment of export commitments to allied nations.

In its message, the corporation underscored that its patriotic workforce has faced and overcome similar attacks in the past, and affirmed that the detection and neutralization of this new attempt were possible only thanks to the unwavering commitment and loyalty to the homeland of its workers. In this regard, it categorically and forcefully rejected these actions promoted by external imperialist interests, executed with the collaboration of "stateless actors seeking to break the country's right to its sovereign energy development."

PDVSA recalled that this incident is not an isolated event, but another link in a chain of aggressions, and directly accused the Washington government of maintaining a policy of permanent harassment and a multifactorial economic war with the clear intention of destabilizing the nation.

The company linked this cyberattack to the recent act of piracy in which the United States seized a Venezuelan oil tanker in Caribbean waters, an act that fits within the continuing military threat posed by the Government of Donald Trump in this region of peace.

Although Washington has attempted to justify its operations with false narratives, the Bolivarian Government and broad sectors of the international community maintain that it was an illegal act that violates international law and confirms a dangerous escalation of violations in the Caribbean.

This offensive has intensified since August 14, when the US Department of Defense ordered the illegal deployment of air and naval units in the southern Caribbean under the alleged pretext of "combating drug trafficking" and "curbing the flow of synthetic drugs." The true and greedy ambition of the White House is Venezuelan oil and other valuable strategic resources like iron, gold, bauxite, coal, and coltan, in addition to other resources such as nickel, copper, and diamonds.

This imperialist militarization has had tragic consequences. US military operations in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific against civilian vessels have caused over 80 deaths since September 2025, as a result of documented extrajudicial and illegal executions by local and international human rights organizations, painting a picture of brutality and contempt for human life and the sovereignty of peoples.
