According to Cuban Ambassador to the United States Lianys Torres the law that was approved on Thursday promotes bilateral cooperation on several areas, such as health care, pharmaceutical production, and education.
In the document, the members of this community condemned the blockade imposed by Washington on Cuba for such a long time in US history.
They also recalled that on December 17, 2014, then presidents Barack Obama and Raul Castro agreed to reestablish diplomatic relations and cooperation between both nations in several areas of mutual interest. They said that despite the executive decisions by the Obama administration (2009-2017) to ease some bans and regulations, severe restrictions on trade and travel persist.
The full reestablishment of relations between the two countries will be very beneficial both for Cuba and the United States, they added.
In the case of the town of Brookline, that step would enrich educational development, health care, economic opportunities, arts, tourism and sports, as well as biotechnology and research, especially relevant in these times of pandemic.
