Two National Guard Members Shot Near White House

Two members of the National Guard were shot today near the White House, and a suspect is in custody.

Washington D.C. police responded to the scene of the shooting on Wednesday afternoon, just blocks from the executive mansion at the intersection of 17th and I Streets NW.

The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the crime scene was secured and that the alleged shooter was injured.

"The White House is aware and is actively monitoring this tragic situation," stated press secretary Karoline Leavitt in a statement, noting that President Donald Trump has been notified of the incident.
