Damascus, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Foreign Ministry sent two letters to the United Nations Secretary General and the President of the Security Council urging them to condemn the Israeli aggression against this nation.

We call on them to exercise their responsibilities under the UN Charter and condemn these hostile actions by Tel Aviv without hesitation or delay, the text of the letters published by official media said.

They called on Israel to respect the relevant Security Council resolutions, in particular the terms of the separation of forces agreement signed in Geneva on May 31, 1974, which stipulates in its first paragraph a cease-fire on land, sea and air.

The Foreign Ministry criticized the Security Council for not having taken the necessary measures to prevent the continuation of these aggression.

The failure to condemn them means that the Council failed to achieve the minimum fulfillment of its duties in the maintenance of peace and security in the region and in the world, it added.

The text of the letters considered the Israeli attacks as the other faces of the US occupier plundering oil and supporting mercenary militias in northeastern Syria with the aim of delaying and even preventing a political solution in Syria.

The Syrian Arab Republic reiterated that it reserves the right to respond to these repeated hostile actions by appropriate means under international law, the Ministry said.

Israel perpetrated this year more than 18 attacks on Syrian territory, the latest was in the early hours of this morning, in which six Syrian soldiers were killed and four others were injured by Israeli aggression against the town of Sayeda Zeinab south of the capital Damascus.

The Syrian Government condemned these actions and deplored the silence of the United Nations in the face of these actions, as well as reaffirmed the right to defend the integrity and sovereignty of the national territory by all legitimate means.
