Russian forces strike than 280 Ukrainian targets

Moscow, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that over 280 staging areas of Ukrainian troops and war matériel were hit by missile and artillery strikes; 18 command posts were hit as well.

According to the report of the spokesman for the Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, 59 artillery and mortar firing positions and a military fuel depot near the town of Kostantinovka, in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) were also hit and destroyed.

The Russian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet and a Mi-24 gunship during the night, in addition to nine drones, and intercepted an enemy Tochka-U missile in the Kharkov region and 14 rockets launched by BM-30 Smerch multiple missile launchers in the DPR, in the People’s Republic of Lugansk and in the Kharkov region.

Kalibr missile strikes destroyed a warehouse in the Chernigov region where Ukrainian ammunition were being kept, as well as three BM-21 Grad multiple missile launcher systems in Donetsk, 11 concentration areas of Ukrainian military personnel and war matériel, in addition to eight artillery positions and two ammunition depots in different Donbass territories.

Konashenkov also reported that Ukrainian nationalists fired at soldiers from the 25th battalion, 54th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had decided to surrender, killing 32 combatants.

“Around 10:00 pm, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to advance towards Russian positions carrying white flags,” Konashenkov said. He then said that a unit of Ukrainian nationalists opened fire from behind their backs.

In the opinion of Konashenkov, such facts show that the lives of the Ukrainian military and the mobilized fighters of the territorial defense units mean nothing to the current leadership of Ukraine.

“I would like to point out that in recent weeks incidents in which nationalists killed Ukrainian soldiers in combat zones have become more frequent,” he denounced.
