Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoli Antonov has described Washington's statements on the alleged use of chemical weapons by his country and of invading other nations as false, local press reported on Wednesday.

In statements to the press, the diplomat considered that the recent words by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki are aimed at demonizing Russia in the eyes of that country’s public and the world community.

Antonov warned that the United States remains the only country that has not yet complied with its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention and has not eliminated its national stockpiles of such weapons.

He said that Moscow, on the contrary, has completely destroyed its stocks of chemical weapons, a fact that has received international recognition. “We expect concrete actions from Washington to free the world of chemical weapons agents.”

The Kremlin representative in Washington reiterated that the accusations against his country of invading other States are also unfounded and assured that Russia adheres to the principle of non-intervention in the affairs of foreign nations and strictly follows international law.

Psaki noted at a recent briefing that Russia “used chemical weapons” and “invaded several countries over the last few years.”
