Santiago de Cuba, July 27 (RHC)-- Floral offerings from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez were placed at the altarpiece to the Martyrs of July 26 at the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, on the occasion of the 69th Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.
The offerings of roses and flowers for the fallen in that heroic action, which starred Fidel and the young people of the Centennial Generation, also came from the President of the National Assembly and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, and the people of Cuba.
Previously, the tribute to the Moncada clarion call was initiated by more than 80 outstanding pioneers from all over the province, who reedited the symbolic assault to the former Moncada Barracks, today 26th of July School City, which also included honors before the bust of Lieutenant Pedro Sarría, a dignified soldier who did not allow the assassination of Fidel when he was taken prisoner by Batista's soldiers.
The roll call of the young men killed in the epic feat of July 26, 1953 against the pro-imperialist dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, or killed after that glorious deed, was a moment of great solemnity along with the declamation of the poems "Ya estamos en combate" by Raúl Gómez García, participant in the historic epic, as well as "Era la Mañana de la Santa Ana", dedicated by the Indio Naborí to the memorable events.
