The Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) reported Friday on the control of criminal proceedings associated with events that disturbed public order and public tranquility, following the passage of Hurricane Ian through Cuba.

The official web page of this State organ points out that the events include the burning of facilities, execution of vandalism acts, closing of public roads with the purpose of impeding the circulation of vehicles and people, aggressions and offenses to officials and forces of law and order and incitement to violence.

The note continues with the announcement regarding the execution of preventive actions with parents who used their underage children, by placing them in risk scenarios and neglecting their duties of protection, assistance, education and care.

The government institution refers that the events under investigation will receive the corresponding criminal legal response, and the accused will be assured that their rights and constitutional guarantees linked to due process will be respected.

By mandate of Article 156 of the Constitution, the FGR has as its fundamental mission the control of the criminal investigation and the exercise of public criminal action on behalf of the State, as well as to ensure strict compliance with the Constitution.

It also oversees compliance with other legal provisions by the organs of the State, entities and citizens and, within the framework of legality, the protection of Cuba's interests and the rights of members of society.
