Project 2025: The Roadmap of Extreme Conservatism in the United States
especiales
The so called Project 2025, created by the influential Heritage Foundation, is raising concerns among political and academic circles in the United States. Spanning nearly a thousand pages, this proposal could serve as the foundation for the governing plan if Donald Trump or another candidate from the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement takes control of the White House in the 2024 elections.

The content of the document leaves no doubt about its objective: to centralize presidential power and radically restructure the U.S. government. Some of its most striking proposals include the mass firing of public employees to be replaced by individuals loyal to the president, and the promotion of a government aligned with ultra-conservative Christian values as critics warn that Project 2025 is a dangerous shift toward authoritarianism, resembling other ultraconservative regimes around the world.
Project 2025 calls for the elimination of key departments, such as the Department of Education, and advocates for deep cuts in welfare programs like Medicare and Medicaid. It also takes a strong stance against abortion and protections for the LGBTQ+ community, proposing to eliminate anti-discrimination laws based on sexual orientation or gender identity, outlining measures such as the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants and the use of the military for domestic law enforcement.
One of the most alarming aspects, according to legal experts, is the potential weakening of the separation of powers and the erosion of the independence between church and state—cornerstones of American democracy. The promotion of ultra-conservative Christian values could undermine religious freedom and civil rights for significant portions of the population.
Some analysts have drawn comparisons between this document and other controversial political texts, such as Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf or Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince, due to its radical content and centralizing vision of power. Parallels are also being drawn between Project 2025 and neo-fascist movements around the world, such as Viktor Orban’s government in Hungary, Jair Bolsonaro’s rise in Brazil, and the policies proposed by Javier Milei in Argentina. While these comparisons may seem exaggerated, Project 2025 shares certain ultraconservative tendencies that are emerging globally.
Surprisingly, while conservative groups have meticulously developed this plan, the Democratic Party has yet to present a clear counterproposa, absence which could prove to be a significant weakness in the upcoming elections as voters are presented with a structured, detailed platform from the far right but lack a similarly thorough vision from the other side of the political spectrum.
Project 2025 remains a controversial issue, but its impact on the political landscape in the United States is already being felt. With the 2024 elections on the horizon, the question is not whether this plan will influence political discourse, but how much of it could be implemented if the MAGA movement reclaims the White House.
