Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his Syrian and Turkish counterparts, Bashar al-Asad and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, respectively, his willingness to help alleviate the consequences of the devastating earthquake that struck the two nations with a preliminary death toll of over 1,200, and the number is increasing.

Putin also expressed his condolences in relation to the strong earthquake, which caused hundreds of deaths and several thousand injured, and assured that Moscow is willing to provide Ankara and Damascus with all the necessary help.

The Russian President asked Erdogan to convey words of sincere condolences and support to the families and relatives of the victims, and his wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by the disaster.

In his message to al-Assad, Putin also expressed his “sincere condolences for the tragic consequences of the earthquake.”

“We share the grief and pain of those who lost their relatives and we hope for the speedy recovery of all the injured. We are willing to provide the necessary help to wipe out the outcome of this natural disaster,” he added.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Pazarcik region in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province on Monday.

According to the latest data, over 800 people died in Türkiye and another 410 in Syria, but the toll will rise as many people are under collapsed buildings.
