Havana, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel assured today Cuba will move forward with the support of all, while he was heading a meeting to look into the damage and recovery actions after hurricane Ian pounded four western provinces and the Isle of Youth.

The Head of State attended a contingency meeting at the venue of the Communist Party of Havana before he toured other hurricane-hit areas in the island’s western region.

Ian cut through the western most province of Pinar del Rio and its strong winds and rains also hit Artemisa, Mayabeque and Havana. The whole west of Cuba is without electricity. Material loses are big.

Diaz-Canel together with the local authorities looked into the capital’s situation, assessed the damage and foresaw recovery actions.

To know firsthand the damage caused by the strong hurricane the president will reportedly continue visiting affected areas.

In a recent meeting of Havana Civil Defense Council the speaker of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo, the first secretary of city’s Communist Party, Luis Antonio Torres, and the capital’s governor, Reinaldo García, also learnt about the effects of the fierce storm. Hurricane sea surge has begun overflowing the city’s coastal line.
