Havana, Mar 16 (Prensa Latina) Andrónico Rodríguez, President of the Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia, reportedly highlighted the solidarity between his country and Cuba and the prospects to expand collaboration.

The high-ranking functionary, who is on an official visit in this capital, as part of a parliamentary exchange, told Granma newspaper about the issues discussed with Cuban authorities, such as promoting air connectivity, transferring techniques in soybean and corn cultivation, and purchasing Cuban vaccines and medicines.

The senator stressed that Cuba has always been supportive with his country, as for instance, the Miracle Mission program, in which thousands of Bolivians received free eye surgery, and Cuban medical brigades worked in distant places.

He recalled that the literacy program “Yo si puedo” (Yes, I can) also benefited millions of Bolivians who joined educational plans; and hundreds of young people studied university professions, especially medicine, in Cuba.

Andrónico Rodríguez stated that Cuba currently suffers severe economic problems caused by the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic and the tightening of the US blockade, to which Bolivia donated syringes, medical supplies, and food in 2022.
