All eight parliamentary candidates from central Santa Clara province, including President Miguel Diaz-Canel, continue an intense program here on Friday that included a meeting with workers from the energies and mines sector.

Gathered at the well-known Los Martires park, the candidates met with members of this sector, which is fundamental for the country’s economy, and listened to a group of specialists, including linemen, who despite material deficiencies, go ahead, willing to solve the damages.

Speaking at the meeting, President Diaz-Canel referred to the many obstacles that the energy sector has had to overcome in recent years and how they have managed to grow. It is a source of pride to hear young people speak with the commitment that they have done so, the head of State noted.

Two of Santa Clara’s candidates, Clara Nubia Aliaga and Asiel Aguada, acknowledged the selfless and committed work of the representatives of this sector, which despite the difficult circumstances that Cuba is going through, accompany the performance of the People’s Power and seek solutions to the people’s problems.

On the same day, the candidates met at the Sala Amistad sports complex, in the Abel Santamaría community, with local residents and workers from companies located in that neighborhood in transformation.

Diaz-Canel noted that in this community, there are many values, a great sense of belonging, and among all of us, rest assured, we will represent you. Here there is strength, there is talent, there is a willingness to overcome adversity, he assured.

On Thursday, all eight parliamentary candidates had a busy agenda that included a meeting with workers from local bodies and the economy and a visit to the headquarters of the Military Region of Villa Clara.

These contacts have been going on for six weeks, since they were nominated with a view to the national elections scheduled for March 26, for the constitution of the legislative body in its Tenth Legislature.
