Havana, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) The Norwegian Fund for the Support of Cuban Cinema, granted by that country's Embassy in Havana supports part of Cuba's film industry, benefiting a dozen projects by local filmmakers.

The participation of female moviemakers and a higher number of applicants to the Fund stand out this year, and the funding of films produced by Cuban directors under 35 years of age that are in production or post-production is being approved.

“Thank you for participating and may those untold stories soon become a reality,” the Norwegian Embassy in Havana posted on its digital platforms about the award-winning projects, including “Anfibios,” “Anhelos,” “Pandora Azul” and “Cuando el viento estremece las hojas.

The list also includes the feature-length films “El electricista,” “La culpa fue de la salamandra,” “El espacio roto,” “Mancha,” “Oración,” “La Industria,” “Perdido,” and “La presa.”

More than 40 motion pictures were submitted to the contest, and 20 were shortlisted by a jury, the organizers stated.

Nine years after its first call in 2014, the Norwegian Fund for the Support of Cuban Cinema seeks to boost independent filmmaking in the country, provide opportunities to young filmmakers and promote the diversity of topics.
