The Government of Nicaragua expressed its sorrow today over the passing of Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, who died on Tuesday at the age of 88.
“A much-loved Cuban brother to us, always attentive to Nicaragua and always a companion, has departed to another plane of life,” the official message stated.
The communiqué highlighted that Cabrisas, a Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba, dedicated his entire life to strengthening the Cuban Revolution with commitment and, through it, fostering ties with other struggling and revolutionary nations around the world.
“With deep affection and lasting friendship for Ricardo, we send all our love and solidarity to his family and loved ones, to the community of daughters and sons of Fidel,” read the statement issued by Nicaraguan co-presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.
Cabrisas held a long-standing career in the leadership of the Cuban state. He served as minister in various economic sectors, represented the island on the international stage, and co-chaired intergovernmental commissions on economic and financial relations with multiple countries.
He was also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, leaving behind a legacy of revolutionary commitment and service to the nation.
